FRESH FRUIT

Fruit is an important part of our diet and it is best to eat it alone because we digest fruit much faster than other foods.

For example, if we eat fruit with yogurt our digestive system quickly processes the fruit and it then sits in our intestines and begins to ferment while our system continues to work on the heavier yogurt.

This then leads to digestive problems, which are manifested by bloating or flatulence.

It's great to eat fruit at breakfast or as a light snack if you have a long gap between meals (6 or more hours.) But if you eat fruit for breakfast, you need to make sure you eat enough to keep you full until your next meal at lunch. A good way to estimate this is to hold both hands together to form an open bowl. Fill it with fruit in your mind. Then just watch your experience with the portion size.

When you eat food, pay attention to your first belch. This is your body telling you that you have eaten enough.
